Geese protect our chickens from aerial predators....and they are beautiful pets!

Crabby Abby (20 years): Embden and
Lucy Goosey (5 years): Toulouse

These are our 2 rescue geese. Abby is an old lady at 18 years old. She had a good home before ours, but the 4h child had long since outgrown her and gone off to other adventures. She was our first and only goose for a year and a half until Lucy came along. Friends heard that we had one rescue goose and gave us another. Lucy was originally destined for Christmas dinner, but the gentleman didn't pay for the processing in time for the holiday and so she escaped that fate, by the skin of her teeth. As a baby Lucy had spraddle leg, and while she was patched up enough to grow and thrive, she has very limited movement in her wings and she has an odd gait as a result. Both these girls lay giant eggs for a few weeks a year and help mow and protect the other poultry, thus earning their keep.
All the way from Washington, this new guy is really a beautiful bird. He will hopefully take to Willow and Leah as breeding season is nearly here.....

Elliot the dragon: Sebastopol

Elliot was my first sebastopol, hatched from shipped eggs. She didn't have any gosling hatchmates and bonded with the call ducks....so she thinks she is a miniature duck and hangs out with them most of the time.

Willow and Leah are lavendar Sebastopol sisters out of Holderreads stock.

These girls have beautiful pale purply/blue feathers, though the color is hard to catch on camera.

Not-So-Ghandi: Sebastopol

Not the most peaceful, Not-So-Ghandi is our white sebastopol gander. He is also out of Holderread stock.
